Freedom in Christ Course
The Freedom in Christ Course is a 10-week long, discipleship course designed to help every Christian break free from what is holding them back and become who they are made to be in Christ.
It is for every Christianβfrom those who have been Christians for a long time to those who are brand-new followers of Jesus. Unlike many Christian discipleship courses today, the focus of this course is not on how to behave, but on what to believe.

Is it your first time fasting? Here's a guide to help you.
Why do we fast?
Moses, David, Elijah, Esther, Daniel, Anna, Paul, Jesus, amongst many others in the Bible practised fasting. When Jesus taught on fasting (Matt 6: 16-18) He would say "When you fast..." encouraging us to embody fasting alongside prayer in our lifestyle. Fasting is abstaining from foods/habits for spiritual growth.
What types of fasts can I do?
There are several types of fasting. The one you choose is between you and God. He will honour your best sacrifice.
Fully Fast
Drink only liquids (recommended for only short term/no. of days)Daily Fast
Fasting from set hours, example: 6am to 6pm. You can choose your hours and dietary changes if you wish to also exclude certain foods.The Daniel Fast
Avoid meats and sweets (some also cut out bread). Drink water and juice, eating fruits and vegetables.

When starting your fast...
Start With A Goal
Ask yourself why you are fasting? Do you need some direction, healing, restoration in personal issues? Do you face financial difficulties? Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and to narrow down your 'why'.Prepare Spiritually
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of weakness, use this moment to surrender yourself fully to Jesus and ask for spiritual strength to reject worldly desires that try to distract you.Deciding Which Fast To Follow
The choice of which fast to follow is entirely up to you, you may choose to go on a Daniel fast or a partial fast. Whatever you decide, just remember to replace the time with prayer and Bible studying.What To Expect
Naturally, the body will go through changes as it adapts to the physical change you are undertaking - stick though this! Limit any strenuous activity and exercise in the beginning and be sure to rest. Spend time in God's presence through prayer and worship and pray as often as you can during your day. Deter from daily distractions as much as you can and keep your heart and mind set on God.At The End
As your fast comes to a close, reflect on your days of fasting - note down how you felt or what the Holy Spirit has led you too. New Years Day Walk
Why not start the year off by blowing the cobwebs away in the company of like-minded Christians? Come on - shake the spiders out of those walking shoes and join your spiritual family for a walk around Darley Abbey on Wednesday 1st January 2025.
We will enjoy a brisk walk followed by hot chocolate or snack at the cafe afterwards.

The Marriage Course
The Marriage Course
The Marriage Course is a series of seven sessions, designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage.

The course runs exactly as it would be if you were attending in person, except that you will be able to do so from the comfort of your own home β where you can replicate your own date night:
Each session lasts for 1 hour 55 minutes, half of which will be for your conversations.
The films will be available online and you will be given access when you register for the course.
Don't forget the candles, snacks, drinks. Try to make it feel as special as possible.

The course starts on Wednesday 11th September 2024 at 7.30pm
Over the 7 week course we will hold 2 in-person meetings which will include a meal. Please note the dates for these two meetings are Wednesday 11th September & Wednesday 23rd October. The rest of the course will then be on Zoom.
There is a fee of Β£25 for course materials and 2 meals that will be provided at the in-person meetings.

Through captivating stories, hands-on activities, and meaningful discussions, we aim to instill a strong foundation of faith during these formative years. Which fast should I do?
You might be asking this question. There are several types of fast you can choose from.
Full Fast - Water or Drink only liquids (you establish the number of days).
Daily Fast - A daily fast is from 6.00am to 6.00pm, from sun-up to sundown or skip a meal (e.g. Breakfast) daily for the duration of the fast.
The Daniel Fast - Eat no meat, no sweets, and no bread. Drink water and juice. Eat fruits and vegetables. (Read Daniel 1 for more detail)
The one you choose is between you and God. He will honour your best sacrifice.
Invite your friends and family to join with you in Prayer and Fasting. There is a synergy and encouragement when we pray together. We encourage you to be intentional in prayer this season.

Stepping into a big jacket can be quite the adventure! Imagine standing there, holding this oversized garment, wondering how you'll ever fit into it. You might start by carefully sliding one arm in, then the other, feeling a bit lost in all that extra fabric.
