Hornets
What are hornets? Hornets are a type of wasp. There are hornets in the UK as well as various types of hornets in many countries. What this text tells us is that God sent out these insects ahead of the Israelites, to help drive out the other nations before them.
How do we apply this to us today?

God Makes Room For Us
What about us on a personal level? God has invested spiritual gifts in each one of us, as well as natural talents and abilities. We can pray that God will make room for us to use those gifts and abilities to a greater extent, and that we will be more and more fruitful in the land. We are to 'stir up the gift of God' which is in us (2 Timothy 1v6).

De-cluttering
Do you love the idea of having a de-cluttered home? Where everything has its place, and you know where everything is? That’s hard to achieve in reality, as we all accumulate ‘stuff’, but it’s a good thing to aim for. In a severely cluttered-up house, some rooms actually become unusable, and life for the owner becomes limited and frustrating.

Happy, Help, Hope
We all need help in our lives. The great thing for us is that God is ‘a very present help in trouble’ Psalm 46v1. God ‘made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them’, and He can help us. He is more than willing to help us.

Power Shift
It might seem at times like we are up against immovable forces.
For example you might have a friend who is an atheist.
They dismiss the claims of Jesus, and seem confident and secure in their position. Don't lose heart, over time things can change, chinks may appear in their armour, a wavering may begin.

“Nevertheless, hereafter…”
Do you feel downcast because of your sins, or even because of others’ sins and their hardness of heart which seems impenetrable? There can always be a ‘Nevertheless, hereafter…’ where sin is confessed, forgiveness is received and the hard heart replaced with a heart of flesh.

Open Your Mouth Wide
Imagine a 20 year old Israelite man or woman who crossed the Red Sea and came out of Egypt. What a pity it would be if that person only asked God for relatively small things over the next 40 years of their lives. They had seen and experienced God doing something awesome, miraculous, and dramatic for them, but it’s as if they had forgotten that.

Choose The Right Fear
We are told multiple times in the Scriptures, “Do not fear”. Fear is generally a negative thing. However there is one fear that we are to embrace;
